About Me

I am a freelance editor and writer living in Houston, Texas. Once upon a time I was on the academic career track, but now I write about academia. I am the editor of the newsletter Women in Higher Education. I also occasionally contribute to the Inside Higher Ed blog University of Venus and the sound studies academic blog Sounding Out!

Right now I'm working on a book about postcards, inspired by my geeky postcard collection that's over a decade old. If I'm not blogging, tweeting, or thinking deep thoughts; I'm busy defending pop culture on an intellectual level, snapping pictures on my iPhone, listening to audiobooks and baseball games, and discovering Houston.

In a nutshell, I am a reader, a writer, a listener, a daughter, and a mother. I also think too much about writing, popular culture, gender, and watch too much tv.

My disciplines and areas of professional expertise include…
