About Me

I am a PhD student at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and the University of Alaska Museum. I study evolution, biogeography, and species delimitation on Madagascar, with a focus on small mammals in the family Tenrecidae (tenrecs). I also teach and promote graphic design skills for scientists, especially in the creation of academic conference posters.

My disciplines and areas of professional expertise include…

  • University of Alaska Fairbanks

    • 2017 PhD, Evolutionary Biology
  • The Ohio State University

    • 2012 Bachelor of Science (B.S.), Ecology and Evolutionary Biology

I have served as a Teaching Assistant for evolution and general biology courses at The Ohio State University and the University of Alaska Fairbanks. I have also led graduate student workshops on designing academic posters.

My teaching capabilities include…

  • Evolution
  • General biology
  • Graphic design for scientists

My PhD research focuses on phylogeography and species delimitation in Madagascar's tenrecs. Using DNA sequences and geographic data, I study the forces driving biodiversity in Madagascar's eastern humid forest, a global biodiversity hotspot. I am also identifying new species and diagnosing species limits in tenrecs, an understudied mammalian lineage.

My research interests include…

  • Madagascar
  • Phylogeography
  • Species delimitation
  • Tenrecidae
