Represents the University of Houston to the public community in Houston, throughout Texas, and across the nation. Develops and implements strategies and programs to facilitate recruitment and enrollment.

  • Reviews application files, and makes admissions decisions and scholarship recommendations.

  • Prepares recruitment schedule, and plans recruiting and yield events.

  • Updates admissions web page and printed publications.

  • Manage alumni and volunteer programs that support student recruitment and enrollment.

  • Recruits and promotes University opportunities to prospective students by developing and delivering presentations to high schools, businesses, organizations and UH alumni.

  • Maintains key relationships with high schools, community colleges and the media.

  • Serves as Lead Counselor in an assigned recruitment area; Assesses and monitors the progress of recruitment efforts.

  • Supervises, trains and evaluates student assistants in ongoing recruitment projects such as campus tours, mail-outs, phone campaigns and UH Ambassadors.

  • Plans, organizes and supervises implementation of university/college recruitment projects and events.

  • Maintains a high level of knowledge regarding the Student Information System and acts as troubleshooter for Outreach and Admissions staff.

  • Monitors target markets and university enrollment and produces reports for use by Outreach and Admissions staff. Assists with the development of a training plan for new counselors.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Bachelor's Degree and 3 years experience.

Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.

Requires a minimum of three (3) year of directly job-related experience.




Will consider education in lieu of experience.

Requires a valid Texas Driver's License.

Additional Information:
  • Assists in the planning and implementation of international student recruitment activities to accomplish international undergraduate student enrollment goals.
  • Recruits international students for undergraduate degree programs and serve as a primary international recruiter for target markets/territories.
  • Reviews international student application files and helps expedite admission decisions for international undergraduate applicants.
  • Evaluates foreign and other credentials of applicants seeking admission to UH.
  • Develops and sustains relationship with key constituents including UH colleges and departments, international student recruitment agencies, EducationUSA offices, institutional partners and student sponsoring agencies.
  • Answers emails, telephone calls, on-line inquiries and walk-in questions concerning prospective international student inquiries, application and admission policies and procedures, as well as assist with current students as needed.
  • Provides input and assists in developing/maintaining customized marketing tools for international student recruitment efforts in target countries.
  • Supervise, train, evaluate student workers assisting with international admission processes and activities.
  • Serves as a Designated School Official for F-1 international student program.
  • Ability to serve as the point of contact for student recruitment agencies and/or student sponsoring agencies.
  • Ability and interest in working with a diverse population and sensitivity to the needs of all students.
  • Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in accomplishing department and institutional goals.


Qualification

Bachelor's Degree and 3 years' experience.

Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Ability to work independently and as an effective team member.

Exceptional customer service skills with high level of motivation, initiative and goal oriented.

Knowledge of computer systems and social media platforms.

Extremely organized and detail-oriented with an ability to succeed in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

Ability to work with diverse cultural and academic backgrounds.

Willingness and ability to travel worldwide.
