Scope of Job
The Department of Writing and Language Studies at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley ( UTRGV ) occasionally has the need to hire One-Year Lecturer to teach a variety of its language courses, including, but not limited to, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Spanish Translation & Interpreting. The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley ( UTRGV ) was created by the Texas Legislature in 2013 as the first major public university of the 21st century in Texas. UTRGV has campuses and off-campus research and teaching sites throughout the Rio Grande Valley including in Boca Chica Beach, Brownsville (formerly The University of Texas at Brownsville campus), Edinburg (formerly The University of Texas-Pan American campus), Harlingen, McAllen, Port Isabel, Rio Grande City, and South Padre Island. UTRGV , a comprehensive academic institution, enrolled its first class in the fall of 2015, and the School of Medicine welcomed its first class in the summer of 2016.
UTRGV faculty are expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to student success and to advancing the university, college, and program missions, as well as a commitment to UTRGV's guiding principles, which include promoting access to postsecondary education to a diverse student body and to become one of the largest and most successful Hispanic-serving emerging research institutions in the U.S.A.
