The Department of Anthropology at Appalachian State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Biological Anthropology to begin August, 2019. Applicants must have in-hand a Ph.D. in Anthropology by the position start date. As the third tenure-stream faculty member in an undergraduate program, special consideration will be given to applicants whose research area and teaching interests both complement and expand our current curriculum, particularly candidates whose research and teaching are focused on evolutionary and biocultural anthropological theory. Candidates must be able to interact effectively with faculty in a broadly-inclusive three-fields department, and demonstrate an ability to develop and sustain an active research program in Biological Anthropology with potential for involving undergraduate students. The successful candidate will teach 6 courses per year. Applicants will also have the opportunity to develop new courses in their area of specialization.

Applicants must provide: (1) letter of application; (2) separate statements of research and teaching interests; and (3) current CV with names, addresses, and phone numbers of three references. In your research and teaching statements, please include information about how your past experiences, current interests/activities, and future goals demonstrate your commitment to creating and retaining diverse communities both within the academy and across broader contexts. All materials should be sent electronically in a single PDF file to bioanth2018@appstate.edu. Review of all applications will begin November 1, 2018, and will continue until the position is filled.  We invite all applicants for employment with Appalachian State University to complete our voluntary Affirmative Action data collection survey.  This brief survey can be accessed at https://appstate.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_dp94NEcI4IgtGD3
