Position Summary Information

Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate in Counseling or Clinical Psychology and eligibility for appropriate licensure in North Carolina.

The successful candidate will be expected to make application for provisional licensure at the start of employment.

Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates who have:

• APA approved training for both academic and internship preparation.
• Experience in a university counseling center with a student affairs perspective.
• Demonstrated interest, skill, and experience in Multicultural programming for traditionally underserved or marginalized students.

Candidates should also:
• Be committed to a proactive student development perspective involving an active relationship with the campus community.
• Have demonstrated skills and interest in working with diverse populations.
• Be team-oriented and collaborative with students, colleagues, and university staff.
• Have broad generalist clinical skills in assessing and intervening with a wide range of disorders, concerns, and degrees of pathology.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
In general, the duties expected of a post-doctoral resident are to contribute to the mission of the Counseling & Psychological Services Center by participating in all areas of service delivery.

Duties of the position include:
• Short-term individual, group, and couples therapy.
• Psychological assessment.
• Crisis intervention.
• Consultation.
• Outreach and psychoeducational workshops (sometimes after hours).
• Clinical supervision and training.
• Case management as needed.
• Liaison/consultant relationships.
• Rotating after hour’s emergency/crisis on call responsibilities.
• Administrative duties based on interest areas and desired areas of specialization, and there are opportunities for research.

Specializations in multicultural work, trauma, work with athletes, eating disorders, behavioral health consultation, administration, or an individualized specialization may be developed.
