Job Summary
The Department of World Languages and Literatures invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of French, beginning in the fall of 2020.
Applicants must possess a strong desire to teach and pursue research in a liberal arts environment with a reputation for excellent teaching. The successful candidate will teach language, literature, and culture. The priority fields are 20th and 21st century French and Francophone Studies with focus on gender, film, and/or postcolonialism. Particular attention will be given to candidates with an interest in sub-Saharan Africa, the French Caribbean, and/or multiculturalism in contemporary France. Candidates must be willing to develop new courses to help shape an evolving curriculum. The position carries a teaching load of eighteen faculty workload credits per year (approximately five courses per year). All teaching is at the undergraduate level. We encourage applications from individuals who have experience in teaching in a multicultural classroom. Teaching statements should address the ability to work effectively with a student population that is broadly diverse with regard to gender, race, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, and religion, and it should provide specific examples that demonstrate this ability.
