The Department of the History of Art at The Johns Hopkins
University invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral
fellowship in the Art of the Ancient Americas to begin July 1,
2019. Fellows will teach one class each semester (undergraduate or
graduate), work with the Austen-Stokes Professor in Ancient
Americas, and participate fully in the life of the department and
university. We encourage applications from scholars specializing in
the arts of pre-Columbian cultures in North, Central, and/or South
America. Preference will be given to scholars focused on
Mesoamerica or other areas complementing the specialization and
research of the Austen-Stokes Professor. Ph.D. in the History of
Art, Anthropology / Archaeology or related field required at time
of appointment. Candidates must demonstrate a strong research
profile and a commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and
graduate levels. Candidates should submit a letter of application,
a current CV including teaching experience, two course proposals,
and one article- or chapter-length sample of scholarly writing
(published, in-press, or from the dissertation). In addition,
candidates should arrange to have three letters of reference sent
on their behalf. All materials will be submitted online through
