The Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) of the Krieger School of Arts & Sciences at Johns Hopkins University (JHU) seeks an energetic, experienced senior student and faculty affairs professional with exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills. AAP enrolls over 3,000 graduate part-time and full-time students in more than 30 post-baccalaureate degree and certificate programs, both online and on-ground. The Executive Director of Student Affairs reports to the Assistant Dean of Marketing, Enrollment Management, and Student and Faculty Services.
This position provides strategic planning, as well as manages the day-to-day operational protocols for student services at AAP with the purpose of providing high quality engagement and support to non-traditional learners and faculty, prioritize solutions, assume overall responsibility for data collection related to faculty and student services, and implement initiatives that align with AAP’s mission for providing opportunities for students and seamless processes for students and faculty, both local and remote. As a manager and leader, the Executive Director will facilitate the delivery of high-quality services for students in the following areas: career development and employment assistance, student services support, student wellness, student conduct, and student/faculty complaint resolution. The Executive Director will also work closely with the Associate, Assistant Dean, and Program Directors to coordinate program-level faculty development services with services AAP-wide; devise a minimum of 3 annual faculty workshops on topics of interest or need (one in each semester), and oversee the DC-based faculty and students service center, which delivers a number of key services including career and internship services, student issues resolution, graduation planning, and disability services. Additionally, the Executive Director will provide strategic direction for AAP’s Montgomery and Homewood faculty and student services.

Qualifications

Master’s or doctoral degree preferred in area related to student affairs, faculty services, or higher education leadership. 5 years’ experience required, 7+ years’ experience strongly preferred in Student Services with at least three years of experience working with non-traditional learners in professional graduate programs.
Special Knowledge and Skill:
  • Supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • A record of demonstrable success in student services.
  • Experience and understanding of the nuances of working with faculty on issues related to the student experience,
  • Experience providing faculty support services in a one-stop-shop model. Understanding of compliance regulations including Title IV and financial aid practices,
  • Experience with resolving student and faculty complaints in a supportive and conflict management in higher education,
  • Experience with crisis management, especially as related to part-time graduate student populations.
  • Proven experience with Student Information Systems and Customer Relation Management Systems.
  • Ability to implement a systematic approach to student, faculty, and alumni issues tracking and resolution. .
  • Ability to develop, implement and assess career development, internships, and job development.
