General Description

The JHU Health Sciences Human Resources supports the School of Medicine, Bloomberg School of Public Health, and School of Nursing; employing a combined base of approximately 3,300 faculty and 7,600 staff. The Sr. Talent Acquisition Specialist provides a wide range of HR support and consulting services for the JHU Health Sciences schools to enable the faculty and staff to carry out the teaching and research missions. Services include full-cycle recruitment, basic employee relations issues and compensation discussion and evaluation while providing outstanding customer service. Will assist in external recruiting programs and initiatives to expand the diversity of the applicant pool and promote community partnerships to increase awareness and accessibility of employment opportunities. The Sr. Talent Acquisition Specialist will be responsible for: • The recruitment, interviewing, testing, screening and hiring of assigned departments' positions. Full-cycle recruitment includes use of applicant tracking system, sourcing strategies and recruitment methods in partnership with client departments. • Evaluates and recommends qualified candidates, verifies references and credentials, recommends salary offers, and completes hiring process. • Ensures that the employment process meets all required university standards and practices as well as employment laws and regulations. • Represents the university at job fairs, career days, campus visitations and community outreach activities. • Continually analyzes and enhances every aspect of the employment process with knowledge of online sourcing strategies. • Advises staff and client department in the areas of salary administration, promotions, transfers and demotions. • Assists in interpreting compensation policy and procedure and counsels managers regarding internal equity and related issues. • Tracks recruitment activity and analyzes and reports statistics to supervisor. • Conducts exit interviews. • May serve on University wide committees. JHU committees as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology or other related field. A degree in specialty area of recruiting may also be considered (Nursing, IT, etc.), if applicable. Three years of related experience. Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.

Working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local employment laws and regulations. Strong consulting and negotiation skills, along with oral and written communication skills. Ability to provide appropriate counsel and work in partnership with management and staff on human resources issues. Must be able to interact effectively will all levels of management and employees, as well as with the candidate population. Must possess strong organizational skills. Must be proficient working with PC applications (e.g., word processing) and must be experienced with online recruitment and applicant tracking systems.

JHU Equivalency Formula:30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis.

Preferred Qualifications

A relevant professional certification (e.g., PHR/SPHR) preferred.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
