The Success Advocate - Student Development Specialist serves as the front line point of contact in the Student Success Center. The Success Advocate is responsible for assisting students with the college enrollment process and orienting students to college policies, procedures, resources, and technology. This position helps facilitate student learning to ensure students are successful in navigating the complexities of the enrollment process from admission through graduation. The Success Advocate builds relationships with students, engages them in the community of JCCC, connects students with resources as needed and serves as a liaison between Admissions and Counseling.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for student enrollment needs and questions.
  • Facilitate student learning by orienting students to the enrollment process, college policies, technological tools, and campus resources.
  • Provide, receive, and accurately process paperwork relating to the enrollment process.
  • Assist with projects for departments within student services.
Required Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field required.
  • Attention to detail, excellent interpersonal communication skills, critical thinking skills and the ability to maintain the confidentiality of student information required.
  • Must be able to communicate institutional policies and procedures clearly and accurately.
Required Experience

  • One year of experience working with student records or other confidential materials.
  • General computer, data entry, and web knowledge required.
  • Data entry experience and ability to type accurately.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience with Community College/Higher Education Student Services area.
  • Experience working with college students of diverse populations.
  • Experience working with Banner student information system.
  • Windows and large data base experience.
  • Multi-lingual applicants with conversational ability encouraged.
