FLSA Learned Professional Exemption Hrs/Week 40 Length of Assignment Fiscal Year - FT Continuing Contract Position Function Provide specialized reference service to students, faculty, and others through in-person, telephone, online, and chat; provide individualized research consultation; provide outreach and service to the campus community; participate collaboratively with colleagues and faculty to develop, promote, and provide library instruction and information literacy; participate in collection development for print and electronic materials.
Minimum Education MLS / MLIS / MIS degree from an ALA accredited program at time of appointment.
Minimum Experience Experience with electronic information services and library systems and their applications for information service and library instruction.
Minimum Other Working knowledge of basic Microsoft Office applications, Web development tools, and social media; effective oral and written communication skills; assignment may require working some evenings and/or weekends.
Preferred Education Additional advanced degrees.
Preferred Experience Experience with web page design and development; experience with federal government publications; experience with legal reference; experience with small-screen mobile smart device applications.
Preferred Other Pre-Employment Screening Requires successful completion of a background check. Positions Supervised None.

Duties & Responsibilities
Ranking 1 Job Duty Create, develop, provide, and evaluate information service using print and electronic information sources to university and community library users in Bracken Library, through remote access, and referral to other library collections.
Ranking 2 Job Duty Create, develop, provide, and evaluate training and instruction to students, faculty, and others in the effective use of electronic and print information resources using the library's electronic classroom technology.
Ranking 3 Job Duty Initiate and develop Information Services-oriented Web applications, mobile library services, social media and other supporting digital initiatives to enhance delivery of information services.
Ranking 4 Job Duty Promote library services to the university community, including students learning communities; serve as librarian liaison to faculty in selected departments to establish cooperative efforts and communication; create and provide presentations, and other communications through digital means.
Ranking 5 Job Duty Participate actively in one or more of the following: develop and create print and online publications, tutorials, and web pages; provide individual appointments for library research via in-person and electronic means; perform reference collection development for print and electronic materials; participate in instructional design.
Ranking 6 Job Duty Keep abreast of and make contributions to professional literature, activities of the professional organizations, and scholarly developments in the areas of reference, library instruction, and instructional technology.
