City Colleges of Chicago is hiring a position of Financial Aid Analyst to work in the District's Office of Student Financial Services. The position will focus on implementing loan default prevention initiatives and providing information and assistance to students on understanding the student loan process, debt management, and loan repayment plan options.

Primary duties include:
  • Works collaboratively with campus representatives to develop district-wide workshops on topics relating to financial literacy, student loans, loan repayment options, and Student Academic Progress (SAP) appeals. Researches topics and applies knowledge of financial aid services in developing content and informational materials for use by College Financial Aid Advisors and other staff in making presentations.
  • Reviews data from the Department of Education (DOE) for all campuses to ensure accuracy of reported cohort default rates. Researches student records to verify accuracy and identifies potential errors. Uses DOE's challenge system to enter data and report errors.
  • Reviews Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) appeals to ensure that key elements of an appeal are provided. Exercises professional judgement in rendering appeal decisions while maintaining compliance with federal regulations.
  • Meets with students individually to discuss delinquency or default status of their student loans, advises on available repayment plan options, and informs them of financial consequences for non-payment of loans.
  • Serves as a liaison between vendors and campus staff to facilitate the provision of direct services to students by vendors such as loan repayment advising, on-line student loan counseling, and related grant-funded student success services.
  • Monitors vendor services, reviewing data on digital dashboard and related reports to assess and evaluate the effectiveness, quality, and success of vendor programs and services.
  • Works on special assignments as assigned such as coordinating work efforts for the allocation of emergency grant funds to Wellness Centers at each campus for students in need of immediate assistance.
  • Performs all other duties of a Financial Aid Analyst as assigned.





  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field, supplemented by two years of responsible financial aid work experience.
  • Must demonstrated knowledge and familiarity with regulations pertaining to student loan applications, loan default and delinquency.
  • Knowledge and skill in the use of PeopleSoft Student Administration module highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of guidelines relating to Satisfactory Academic Progress holds and student appeal procedures highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with National Student Loan data system desirable.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
