Job Summary

The Department of Politics, Philosophy, and Public Administration at Columbus State University seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Political Science with a specialization in Economic Development and Public Policy. The start date for this position is August 1, 2018.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties may include teaching American Government, including both undergraduate and undergraduate classes; develop and teach upper level courses focusing on contemporary trends in public policy related to the field of expertise; teach online classes; support the Department's graduate program, which offers a Master's in Public Administration; engage in scholarly activities; and provide service to the Department, University and community. The successful candidate will use active learning strategies which increase student engagement in the learning process.

Minimum Qualifications

The successful candidate must have an earned doctorate in Political Science or a closely related field at the time of application, and a demonstrated record of successful teaching at the undergraduate level. Preference will be given to candidates with a solid research agenda in their area of scholarship.

Applicants must have the ability to meet Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges ( SACSCOC ) requirements, in particular a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.
