Job Summary
The Department of Teacher Education in Columbus State University's College of Education and Health Professions invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Special Education. The start date for this position is August 1, 2018.
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be able to foster an environment of professionalism and collaboration; work in continuous improvement of educator preparation and educational research; demonstrate exceptional ability to function as part of a team with university faculty and the community of practice; and engage in practices that support the University's focus on student engagement and active learning. Additionally, the selected candidate is expected to be a strong advocate for Special Education within the university and community at large. Diversity in faculty and staff in the College of Education is encouraged. Columbus State University has a current enrollment of over 8400 students with 120 enrolled in Special Education.
The individual will be responsible for providing online and face-to-face/hybrid instruction at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Responsibilities include: effective online and face-to-face teaching and advising; designing, implementing, and assessing Special Education programs of study; supervising student teachers, interns, and practicum students; engaging in research and scholarly activities in the discipline; serving on and chairing doctoral committees; performing service to the program, department, college, and university; and participating actively in Special Education professional development and leadership activities.

Minimum Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include an earned doctorate in Special Education from a regionally accredited institution; evidence of successful experience in public education as a special education teacher, curriculum director, or administrator; excellent written and oral communication skills; a record of scholarly activity; exceptional collaborative skills; and experience with technology for synchronous and asynchronous instruction.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates who have expertise/experience in Autism Spectrum; the ability to bring innovative strategies to the Special Education program; have evidence of successful teaching at the college level in both traditional and online environments; and knowledge/experience with NCATE / CAEP accreditation and/or CEC recognition.
Salary Range Special Instructions to Applicants

Applications for part-time and full-time faculty positions must include transcripts of all academic work, and official transcripts must be presented prior to campus visit if selected for interview. Applicants must have the ability to meet Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges ( SACSCOC ) requirements, in particular a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.
