ASSISTANT | ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH

Job Summary

The Department of Counseling, Foundations, and Leadership in Columbus State University's College of Education and Health Professions invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of Educational Research. The start date for this position is August 1, 2018.

Duties and Responsibilities

This position will work primarily with students in the Doctor of Education Degree Program in Curriculum and Leadership. This program is intended to prepare students for the present climate of accountability where there is a significant demand for educators among administrative ranks and in the classroom who have a high degree of expertise in school improvement, research, and professional learning. The development of professional educators with the research skills necessary to improve student achievement in schools is critical given the need for leadership frameworks, curriculum models, and instructional practices that are supported by research. This program is delivered in a cohort model in which students work together through their required coursework in face-to-face, online, and/or hybrid classes. Classes are sometimes taught to cohorts on-site in remote locations. Faculty travel to off-site locations may be required. The successful candidate will be able to foster an environment of professionalism and collaboration, work in continuous improvement of educator preparation and educational research, demonstrate exceptional ability to function as part of a team with university faculty and the community of practice, and engage in practices that support the University's focus on student engagement and active learning.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates should have an earned doctorate in educational research or related field from a regionally accredited institution; demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to design and deliver high quality graduate programs; excellent written and oral communication skills; excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills; demonstrated ability to teach courses related to quantitative and mixed methodology research and dissertation design; ability to advise, and coach doctoral students in academic research; ability to participate in dissertation advisement and serve on dissertation committees; a record of successful research and publication; a demonstrated record of membership and participation in relevant professional organizations; a record of service and involvement in the profession; and demonstrated ability to use technology for synchronous and asynchronous instruction in innovative ways.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates who have had successful experience in working with and advising doctoral students; successful experience working in online educational environments; and evidence of successful teaching at the graduate and doctoral levels.

Salary Range Special Instructions to Applicants

Applicants must have the ability to meet Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges ( SACSCOC ) requirements, in particular a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.
