Job Description:

The Associate Director, Donor Engagement manages the creation and implementation of individual, customized engagement plans for the University of Florida’s most esteemed donors. The position works closely with the Executive Director and staff to advance the mission of the department to inform, engage and build investment in all internal and external constituencies.

Donor Engagement Projects

  • Create new and innovative programs that promote donor engagement and recognition and speak to the UF mission; work in conjunction with relationship managers to facilitate a first-in-class donor engagement experience.
  • Assist Executive Director in executing custom stewardship initiatives at the request of UFF Leadership including special campaign related gifts and volunteer/board recognition
  • Collaborate with Principal Gifts and Development Officers to identify and craft stewardship deliverables and engagement opportunities to showcase the impact of their philanthropy.
  • Manage the inauguration delegates initiative by handling communication with the President’s Office, researching and identifying appropriate delegates as needed, working with development officers, and overseeing general logistics
  • Benchmark best practices across the industry in personal and corporate donor engagement.

Individual Engagement Plans

  • Develop robust individualized engagement plans (IEP) for selected major and principal gift donors and/or prospects with an emphasis on donor recognition and communication as well as back-office services designed to facilitate the moves-management process.
  • Proactively support the stewardship responsibilities of Development staff by assisting them in establishing and coordinating individualized engagement plans for donors to their colleges/units.
  • Coordinate with Development Officers to implement, monitor, and document engagement plans.
  • Develop criteria for measuring engagement plan success, track results with established goals, and advise Advancement leadership towards ongoing progress.
  • Partner with the Prospect Management, Research and Analysis team to integrate IEP and prospect management policies and procedures; utilize Advance to support and enhance IEP process

Strategic Writing

  • Responsible for assisting with any additional personalized donor recognition, such as impact reports, recognition books, historical markers, special events, and special engagement opportunities.
  • Developing impact and recognition materials will require researching donor or college/unit information, developing meaningful and impactful written and graphic materials in collaboration with college/unit staff.
  • Work closely with Development and Donor Relations staff to report on the use of gifts, communicate gift impact and celebrate contributions.

Leadership

  • Provide strategic direction of individual and group projects designed to enhance the donor engagement experience.
  • Report and track fundraising progress through the use of contact reports, prospect management and other communication tools to ensure efficient and effective communication.
  • Contribute to regular brainstorming on innovative, unique and personalized stewardship communications and experiences.
  • Research and communicate emerging trends and best practices in donor engagement and stewardship.
  • Providing ongoing education for internal partners on "best practices" in donor relations and engagement.
  • Develop and manage an operations budget and periodically review and update, determining cost effectiveness of each project and program, making changes in methods as needed.
  • Manage Assistant Director, Donor Communications staff position in alignment with the Vision of TB2 and R.A.I.S.E. Values.
Advertised Salary:

Salary is competitive and commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Prior experience in a college or university setting, enthusiasm for and the desire to work collegially within a goal-oriented fundraising organization
  • One to three years of professional experience; preferably in development and/or donor relations
  • Experience and willingness to recruit, train and supervise college interns
  • Willingness and ability to collaborate internally with team members successfully
  • Demonstrated accomplishment in fostering productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to listen, apply critical thinking skills, and effectively communicate with a focus on stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Excellent oral/written communications and interpersonal skills; effective time management; impeccable grammar
  • Strong organization skills with a focus on detail and fiscal oversight are imperative
  • Technical expertise in the following areas: Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Professional Suite (including InDesign and Photoshop), Prezi.
  • Prior event management experience.
  • Working knowledge of a donor database.
  • Willingness to dedicate time to research best practices in donor relations and consistently learn and share knowledge.
