Job Description:

30% Responsible for implementing and delivering a comprehensive communications and public relations program for the College of the Arts under the supervision and direction of the Marketing Manager. This duties include, but are not limited to acting as the College liaison with UF’s central Public Relations offices in a way that effectively promotes the college and its educational and community resources;

Works with appropriate college leadership and the Marketing Manager to collect information from school directors, promote school activities, and compose press releases and other written content for publications. Responsible for overseeing the writing of news and feature articles for publication in local, national and international newspapers and magazines to inform the public of College accomplishments, image and services. Develops copy for letters and stories for special correspondence, reports and initiatives. Responsible for direct development of content and editing of guest writer submissions. Edits college written materials as assigned.

20% Works to actively recruit partners and to maintain partnership relationships for the college including trade out advertising, season and event sponsorships, and grants to support the college.

20% Organizes the recruitment, training and management of the College of the Arts Marketing/PR/Development internship program. Delegates assignments and edits student interns writing projects, under the direction of the Marketing Manager.

10% Works with appropriate college leadership to collect information from school and center directors and other sources to develop and implement new content on the college’s and school’s (within the college) web and social media outlets appropriately.

10% Works with the Director of Development to create written content for solicitation and stewardship to support and promote programs and audience development. Works with the Director of Development to submit grants to support promotion of special programs and campaigns. Supports donor and partner events for stewardship and cultivation of donors.

5% Develops and disseminates communications materials and strategies including web presence, printed materials and social media, for student recruitment.

5% Other duties as assigned.

Advertised Salary:

$33,000 - $35,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in an appropriate area; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prefer Master’s degree plus 1 year of experience working in the arts in higher education; UF and arts experience highly preferable; ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment; excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience working in a creative team. Knowledge of AP Style.
