Job Description:

The Center for Pharmacometrics and Systems Pharmacology (CPSP) in the Department of Pharmaceutics (PC) at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy (COP) on the Lake Nona (Orlando) campus invites applications for a full-time, 12-month tenure-track position at the rank of Associate/Full Professor. The successful applicant will have a commitment to the CPSP's mission (below), an interdisciplinary and team-based research program and teaching activities, as well as to establishing a nationally recognized externally funded research program.

The Center’s mission is to improve the discipline of drug development and regulatory science by developing innovation translational research strategies in quantitative clinical pharmacology, including personalized medicine. The candidate is expected to build an externally funded research program from among the disciplines of pharmacometrics, systems pharmacology, bioinformatics and/or healthcare outcomes based on modeling and simulation, and a mix of in silico and experimental (laboratory and in silico) research. The successful applicant will serve as a senior CPSP representative to lead and manage a formal scientific collaboration between the CPSP and external groups of multi-disciplinary pharmacometricians, systems pharmacologists and bioinformatics specialists. The collaborative teams will focus on identifying innovative and future-looking drug development and regulatory science projects of shared interests, including model-based analysis of healthcare outcomes, and training of the CPSP doctoral students and post-doctoral research associates, and other team members in advanced quantitative clinical pharmacology.

The successful applicant’s research program is expected to include private industry, foundation and/or federal funding in both basic and applied modeling and simulation. The primary focus of the CPSP is on research that informs decisions related to drug development, clinical care and/or regulatory science.

Minimum Requirements:

The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. or Pharm.D. degree (or equivalent) with relevant post-doctoral training in experimental (basic) and applied quantitative clinical pharmacology with significant and relevant experience in quantitative clinical pharmacology. Excellent teaching and communication skills are essential. FDLE Criminal Background Check Required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Soft skills are essential to team-based research (e.g., leadership abilities, strong communication skills, strategic thinking, consensus building), and in facilitating scientific communication of ideas between, trainees, faculty and external collaborators. Clinical experience is an added attribute for the successful candidate as an understanding of therapeutics and healthcare outcomes is helpful for training and mentoring Pharm.D. students, PhD students and post-doctoral research associates.
