Job Description:

The University of Florida College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications for a renewable position as Visiting Assistant Professor in the Center for European Studies (CES). We seek applicants with superior promise who combine broad expertise in the field of European Studies with excellence in teaching and experience in outreach and program development. Disciplinary backgrounds may include, but are not restricted to Anthropology, History, Political Science, Philosophy, Psychology, Religion, and/or Sociology.

The candidate is expected to contribute to the teaching, and service missions of the UF Center for European Studies and the CLAS International Studies major and will have a 100% appointment in the Center. We particularly welcome applicants who can teach at least one (and preferably both) of the required courses (‘International Studies Perspectives’ and/or ‘International Studies Senior Research Seminar’), within the International Studies (IS) interdisciplinary undergraduate major. In addition, competitive candidates will be able to offer either the humanities or social science version of the core ‘European Experience’ course for the Center for European Studies and other Europe related courses. Anticipated teaching assignment for the position will be three courses per semester. We are also seeking someone with a willingness to contribute to the varied activities of the Center including campus and community outreach, new grant initiatives, and program development. Experience with study abroad program development and management also welcome.

Established in 2003, the Center for European Studies offers two minor degrees, several graduate and undergraduate certificates and hosts five study abroad programs. In addition, the CES provides support for the European track of the CLAS interdisciplinary International Studies major. This interdisciplinary major offers a diverse array of courses across a number of departments. Currently, over 150 students are completing the European track of the IS major at the University of Florida.
