Certified Medical Assistant
Job Description:Provides medical support activities for clinicians and providers in a multi-disciplinary outpatient clinic serving pediatric patients. Provides patient care and performs administrative and clinical duties in support of clinic and providers in a friendly and helpful manner.
Essential functions of the job:
- Assists in clinic management including keeping patient areas clean and safe and works with providers to effectively manage patient visit cycle time.
- Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit.
- Completes the vitals process by taking blood pressure, pulse, height, weight and head circumference; reporting patient history summary. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality at all times. Notifies providers of pertinent patient information and follow-up.
- Collects co-pay, co-insurance or deductible. Posts charges and distributes the money collected to the appropriate accounts. Verifies insurance eligibility as needed.
- Provides patient information and instructions.
- Schedules patients and makes confirmation calls.
- Assists patients that walk in with questions, concerns or who request status updates.
- Answers phone calls and works voicemail logs by returning messages.
$13.00 - $15.00 per hour depending on education and experience.
Minimum Requirements:Successful completion of the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam offered by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).
Preferred Qualifications:Graduation from an accredited vocational or training program for Medical Assistants. Certified as a Medical Assistant and registered with the AAMA. One year of experience with third party payers, and computer experience for imputing data and reviewing patient demographic material preferred. Two to four years clerical/customer service experience preferred, ideally in a health care related industry serving the pediatric population.

Must be able to collect money, make change, and post payments in the medical records system.
Work Hours: Monday thru Thursday 8a-8p and Friday 8a-2:30p. A minimum of 40 hours per week with variations and flexible hours, including evenings or weekends due to special events, as applicable.
