Job Description:

The University of Florida College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry has a postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Adriaan Bruijnzeel in the McKnight Brain Institute at the University of Florida. The position is funded by a FDA/NIDA grant.

The candidate will use animal models to study the relationship between the nicotine content in tobacco and the reinforcing properties of cigarettes during adolescence. The work will involve rat tobacco smoke exposure, intracranial self-stimulation, and nicotine self-administration. The Bruijnzeel-lab is located in the McKnight Brain Institute (http://www.mbi.ufl.edu). The MBI houses state of the art research facilities and provides ample opportunities for collaborations.

Advertised Salary:

Salary will be in line with NIH policy for Post Doc positions.

Minimum Requirements:

This position requires a PhD in Neuroscience, Neuropharmacology, or a closely related field. The ideal candidate will have experience with animal models for drug abuse or psychiatric disorders.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with a track record of publications, experience with rodent drug self-administration, and intracranial surgeries.
