Job Description:

The University of Florida (UF) College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking nominations and applications for Chair of the Department of Infectious Diseases and Immunology. The Chair is the chief administrative officer for the department with overall responsibilities including (1) recruitment, mentoring and promotion of faculty, (2) management of departmental budgets, (3) coordination of departmental instructional activities in both the graduate and professional veterinary programs and (4) provision of strong leadership in research, teaching and applicable service activities. In addition, the Chair is expected to serve as the primary departmental liaison with the scientific community in the UF Health Science Center, the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, as well as other UF campus units and the state of Florida at large.

The new Chair will join and lead a dynamic faculty with research expertise in animal models of disease, diagnostics, infectious diseases of animals and humans, molecular genetics, mucosal immunology, and vaccine development and therapeutics. The University of Florida affords a strong, vibrant interdisciplinary environment for collaborative research excellence. The College of Veterinary Medicine is part of the University of Florida Health Science Center which houses six health related colleges (Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health & Health Professions, and Veterinary Medicine). The collaborative environment at UF is also enriched by the Emerging Pathogens Institute, the Clinical Translational Sciences Institute, and numerous other Institutes and Centers, including the Center for Inflammation and Mucosal Immunology. Departmental faculty are actively involved in these and other collaborative opportunities.
