Job Description: The University of Florida, Department of Landscape Architecture invites applications for a full time (1.0 FTE) 9-month, non-tenure track Research Assistant Professor position beginning in fall 2014. The job description includes teaching courses, mentoring graduate students and conducting research at the Center for Landscape Conservation Planning.
Fifty percent of this position will be teaching and mentoring, and fifty percent will be research. This includes teaching lecture and studio courses and mentoring graduate students. The candidate who is selected will be expected to bring in fifty percent of their salaries from their sponsored projects and continue to keep fifty percent of their salary covered by sponsored research projects. The other fifty percent that is teaching will be funded by the Department. The position is subject to annual renewal.
Priority will be given to candidates with the ability to teach environmental and regional planning using GIS, experience in sponsored projects, and a clear potential to succeed in a land grant and research university. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of excellence in instruction, sponsored projects, and peer-recognized scholarly activity.
As one of two units in the School of Landscape Architecture and Planning, the Department of Landscape Architecture is an established program with accredited Bachelors and Masters Programs in landscape architecture, a growing Ph.D. program, a strong relationship with the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, and varying degrees of interaction with other units in the College of Design, Construction and Planning, which offers degree programs in Architecture, Building Construction, Interior Design, Historic Preservation and Sustainability.

Minimum Requirements: Professional terminal degree in landscape architecture and licensure, or have a Ph.D. with a proven research agenda.
