Job Description: The candidate will conduct basic and applied research in the field of neuro-degenerative disease, which will include a focus on an understanding of human brain disorders; specifically movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease, and a multi-pronged approach towards developing disease-modifying therapies. The individual in this position will conduct research in this field, with a focus on improving overall human health through quality clinical and translational research.
Principal duties of the position are:
30% - Developing a scientific program, and responsibility for generating funding, as well as publications and dissemination of data. Will further the research of the lab, and will have familiarity with hands-on techniques (animal surgeries, tissue processing and histology).
30% - Will possess familiarity with tissue culture techniques, PCR, and Western blots.
15% - Managing student volunteers in the lab (funds, purchases and safety).
15% - Developing independent, extramurally funded research programs.
10% - Mentoring scientific projects of undergraduate students in the lab, including Honor's thesis and USP scholars.

Minimum Requirements: A Ph.D. or equivalent in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. or equivalent, and three years of research experience in the field of neuro-degenerative disease, with a focus on human brain disorders.
