Job Description
The Institute for Simulation and Traning at University of Central Florida invites applications for a postdoctoral research scientist position in computational social simulation. The position is scheduled to begin in Fall 2017.
Job Description:
1. Conduct specific research projects under the direction of a principal investigator;
2. Support proposal development, manuscript writing, and related grant activities; and
3. Develop computer programs and applications in support of experiments and research activities.
The selected candidate must have the ability to conduct independent research, write academic manuscripts, develop grant proposals and administer research projects.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.


Position Minimum Qualifications
Earned Ph.D. in a relevant discipline such as computational social sciences, machine learning, computational simulation, computer science, information systems, statistics or a closely related discipline form an accredited institution by the start of the appointment period.
Candidates who expect to earn their Ph.D. by summer 2017 will be considered.


Preferences
  • Excellent skills, proficiency, and demonstrated experience in building computer programs, managing large datasets, and developing simulation applications using contemporary languages;
  • Strong knowledge in social and behavioral disciplines;
  • Collaborative skills with an appreciation for the principles of shared governance;
  • Effective communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.


Special Conditions
Legal authorization to work full-time in the United States for the duration of employment is required. A foreign national, if recruited for the position, may be eligible for green-card sponsorship by UCF .
This is a full-time position supported by contracts and grants funding (C&G).
