The Los Rios Community College District is a two-year public college district serving the greater Sacramento region. Our district includes American River, Cosumnes River, Folsom Lake and Sacramento City colleges; major centers in Placerville, Davis, West Sacramento, Elk Grove, Natomas and Rancho Cordova; and special services for business and industry.

Our colleges offer transfer education - students complete freshman and sophomore years and transfer to a four-year college or university - and AA/AS degrees and certificates in over 70 career fields. The District's 2400 square mile service area includes Sacramento and El Dorado counties and parts of Yolo, Placer, and Solano counties. Approximately 80,000 students are enrolled in our colleges.

The District office houses a number of district-wide services. These include the Chancellor's office, Board Room, Legal Services, Business Services, Human Resources, Institutional Research, District Police Department, Resource Development and Information Technology. Other district-wide services which can be found at various locations around the community are the, Facilities Management Department and the Workforce and Economic Development Center. Each department strives for the highest quality in all programs, services, and activities for our communities and staff.

Position Summary

The Los Rios Community College District is seeking a pool of qualified applicants for possible temporary part-time teaching assignments. These positions are filled on an as needed basis and are on-going recruitment. Assignments may include day, evening and weekend courses.

Assignment Responsibilities

General Responsibilities:
The adjunct faculty member shall be responsible for the following: teaching assigned classes under the supervision of the area dean; helping students fulfill their maximum potential in mastering course content; assessing student learning outcomes; maintaining a thorough and up-to-date knowledge in his/her regular teaching field; continuing professional development; utilizing current technology in the performance of job duties; maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position; assisting with articulation and curriculum development and review; serving on college committees and participating in faculty governance including accreditation and student co-curricular activities; assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the area dean; fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of an adjunct faculty member as outlined in the college faculty handbook.

The responsibilities included, but limited to;

Head coach duties include:
• Attending all Athletic Department meetings.
• Attending all BIG 8 coaches meetings for their sport.
• Annually submitting a request for travel, supplies and equipment to the Dean. This includes travel requests and to pay officials, entry fees, meal assistance, game management, and lodging.
• Maintaining an accurate account of all trust account activity and balance of said account. This includes coordinating and directing all sport specific fund raising activities.
• Reading, understanding and abiding by the current:

California Community College Athletic Association ( CCCAA ) Constitution and Bylaws, the BIG 8 Constitution and Bylaws, the appropriate CCCAA Championship Handbook, the appropriate BIG 8 sport supplement, and the appropriate sport rule book as identified in the CCCAA Constitution and Bylaws. Head coaches shall also adhere to the rules and regulations of CRC and the Los Rios Community College District.

• Establishing regular staff meetings, realistic responsibilities and reliable procedures for assistant coaches as well as provide opportunities for assistants to use their talents.
• Establishing and maintaining positive public relations with colleagues, college faculty and staff, and community members including, students, parents, the press, the surrounding high schools and other interested parties.
• Managing their eligibility roster to be accurate at all times.
• Informing program participants (athletes and staff) of team rules including: conditioning; physical exam and athletic training requirements; practice attendance and participation rules; conduct and behavior expectations relative to practice, during competition, on trips, in the classroom, on campus and in the community; appropriate dress; drugs, alcohol and/or tobacco rules; relations with officials and opponents; sport, conference and state decorum rules and regulations; responsibility for actions; academic and athletic counseling requirements; and any other information the head coach and Athletic Director feels is pertinent.
• Keeping abreast of modern trend, techniques and strategies of coaching. This can be achieved by attending clinics, networking with colleagues, and regularly reading professional publications on their sport. Coaches should annually evaluate their present system with their assistant coaches and apply new trends when applicable.
• Providing an atmosphere of cooperation with all constituents. Be receptive to suggestions and give credit to those responsible for success.
• Communicating when appropriate with campus wide organizations such as: Campus PIO , ASG , the Connection (school newspaper), the SIO , etc. regarding their program.
• Cooperating with the Athletic Trainers on eligibility, physical examinations, insurance claims, medical help for injured athletes and respecting the decision by the trainer to hold out an athlete due to injury.
• Cooperating with the Athletic Counselor and the Study Center Coordinator on academic matters for their athletes. In addition, the Head Coach should be invested in the academic success of their athletes, review their grades, and help motivate them toward success.
• Cooperating with the Athletic Specialists for ordering and monitoring all uniforms and equipment. In addition, the Head coach should also have knowledge of current inventory of equipment and uniforms as well as replacement needs.
• Reporting scores in a timely manner to all score reporting areas. The Head Coach will cooperate with the Sports Information officer in maintaining an accurate website and score reporting as per department policy and CCCAA rules.
• Recruiting student athletes in the high schools within our recruiting area. The Head Coach will adhere to the recruiting rules established by the CCCAA especially in recruiting out-of-area athletes.
• Scheduling all contests within the guidelines established by the department, CCCAA and the BIG 8 conference.

• Planning, coordinating, supervising, and evaluating practices, games and related activities giving attention to each player's mental and physical well-being.
• Attending all practices, trips and scheduled competitions including evenings and weekends. Head coaches must travel with their teams unless unusual circumstances arise and this must be cleared with the Dean.
• Practices/Games/Travel: Head Coaches are responsible for their team rules and informing students of behavioral expectations and consequences during practices, games, and travel. Coaches are expected to report behavioral problems to the Athletic Director.
• Taking responsibility to prepare the staff and each team member for competition. The Head Coach will maintain self-control, provide a model of sportsmanlike conduct in relation to players, officials, staff, spectators and the opponents, in accordance with Big 8 and CCCAA guidelines and rules.
• Maintaining adequate records, statistics, scores, etc. of game results and student athletes' participation records and accomplishments. In addition, the Head Coach will promote the student athletes accomplishments when appropriate for awards and recognition.
• Providing an End-of-Season archival report to the Athletic Director at the conclusion of each competitive season.
• Contacting and communicating with athletes during the off-season.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Have a master's degree from an accredited institution in Kinesiology, Physical Education, Exercise Science, Education with an emphasis in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Physiology of Exercise, or Adaptive Physical Education; OR, a bachelor's degree in any of the above AND a master's degree in any Life Science, Dance, Physiology, Health Education, Recreation Administration, or Physical Therapy; OR, hold a California Community College Instructor's Credential in the discipline area; OR, the equivalent.*

2. Have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles.
