The Division of Teaching and Learning Technologies at University of Mary Washington is hiring an Online Learning and LMS Specialist. A leader in digital liberal arts, DTLT is a group of creative, reflective educators and technologists who foster community around and drive advances in teaching, learning, and research by developing pedagogical partnerships with faculty and departments.
The Online Learning and LMS Specialist will work closely with other DTLT team members on improving and enhancing learning at UMW through a variety of integrated technologies. We are looking for an innovative, pedagogically-engaged individual who will collaborate with faculty to harness the potential of our current LMS, Canvas, in online and hybrid learning environments. We are especially interested in someone that can think with and beyond the LMS, helping UMW explore ethical approaches to online learning and intersections between Canvas and the Domain of Ones Own initiative spearheaded by DTLT.
The person in this position will:
Serve as UMW LMS (Learning Management System) systems administrator;
Provide professional development in online education;
Work with faculty and academic units by contributing to development of online / hybrid degree programs;
Contribute to campus-wide conversations about online learning.

-Strong liberal arts education represented by an earned masters degree from an accredited university or college;
-A bachelors degree may be considered when accompanied by extensive additional experience in supporting higher education facultys use of teaching and learning technologies.
-Prior experience working with faculty in higher education;
-Experience researching, assessing, and implementing new educational technologies;
-Experience working independently and with a team on collaborative projects.
-Experience working cooperatively and effectively with faculty, students, and staff;
-Experience using and supporting Instructures Canvas LMS;
-Experience working with WordPress and other open-source software applications in an educational setting.
