Coordinator for Healthy Masculinity Programming and Violence Prevention

Join a vibrant campus community whose excellence is reflected in its diversity and student success.  West Chester University of Pennsylvania’s Division of Student Affairs invites applicants for the Coordinator for Healthy Masculinity Programming and Violence Prevention.  Working under the direction of the Women’s Center Director and supervision of the Assistant Dean for Student the coordinator serves as a catalyst and resource for advancing violence prevention efforts on campus that will include a focus on gender equity and social justice. The coordinator will provide programmatic guidance and assessment for the development of strategic plans, goals and measurable objectives for comprehensive sexual misconduct, advocacy, violence prevention and healthy masculinity programs and services for the university. The coordinator trains, directs, and supervises others performing tasks associated with the delivery of programs and services, including staff, students, and peer educators. The coordinator will include a focus on programs that support healthy masculinities to encourage men to think critically about the impact gender role socialization has on their personal and academic relationships  The coordinator will support student success by promoting campus leadership and involvement, effective bystander behaviors, and the emotional and physical well- being of the University.

•    Maintain multidisciplinary collaboration with departments across campus (Wellness Promotion, Women’s Center, Social Equity, Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, Veteran’s Center, Athletics, Campus Recreation, Office of Multicultural Affairs, Alcohol tobacco and Other Drugs, etc.)  in planning and implementing programs, policies, and protocols for violence prevention.
•    Coordinate and develop comprehensive educational programming for students, faculty and staff related to power based violence (sexual misconduct, dating violence, street harassment, stalking).
•    Collaborate with Title IX Coordinator to update and review campus-wide policies, protocols, and activities in response to sexual misconduct, relationship abuse and stalking.
•    Assist the Women’s Center Director with gender-related programming, specifically that which focuses on healthy masculinities and sexual misconduct.
•    Develop, implement and assess trainings and other co-curricular programs that focus on healthy masculinities, men’s antiviolence, and sexual assault prevention.
•    Recruit, train, coach and supervise peer educators and/or peer mentors who will serve as role models for men around the development of healthy masculinities, student success and violence prevention.
•    Collaborate with campus and community partners to create coordinated services for victims of sexual misconduct and violence on and off campus.
•    Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
•    Master’s degree in Women’s and Gender Studies, Higher Education/Student Affairs, Social Work, or related field with at least 2 years of experience in a department/office focused on gender equity and/or violence prevention.  Experience in a higher education setting preferred.
•    Advanced understanding of gender role socialization, namely related to men and masculinity
•    Strong leadership, organizational, and presentation skills
•    Knowledge of best practices of sexual misconduct education and prevention
•    Experience working on sexual misconduct and gender-based violence prevention with college-age students
•    Advocate for diversity with demonstrated commitment to addressing intersection of multiple identities
•    Ability to maintain positive relationships with diverse individuals and groups
•    Excellent written and oral communication skills
•    Some evenings/weekend hours required.
Starting salary is $45,027. Excellent benefits package including tuition fee waiver for self and dependents. Applicants must successfully complete interview process to be considered as a finalist.
