As part of the Creative team in the Marketing Department at Chicago Booth, the Senior Designer conceptualizes, designs, and produces a wide variety of leading edge interactive, print, and multimedia initiatives for the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and contributes in a thoughtful way to the growth of the creative team and the overall marketing efforts of Chicago Booth.
The Senior Designer will create thoughtful, strategic, and integrated campaigns that meet a wide range of Chicago Booth marketing and branding objectives. Work collaboratively on creative strategy and integrated user experiences, bringing industry best practices, innovative ideas and techniques to critical projects. The Senior Designer leverages strong digital expertise to produce and present integrated cross-platform materials that support the Chicago Booth brand and a range of related marketing initiatives. By applying expertise in the essential areas of user experience design, information architecture, interface design, editorial design, digital advertising, print and multimedia production, the Senior Designer will function as both a hands-on and thought leadership resource for the team and partners.
The Senior Designer will consult and provide design direction to fellow designers, developers, freelance photographer/videographers, illustrators, editors, and motion designers as it relates to specific project goals. In addition, guides team members by offering expertise, advice, technical knowledge, and examples. Serve as a positive example of work quality and professionalism. Maintain on-going dialogue with their Creative Director, proactively working to refine and lead team processes, review work, offer feedback, and support the stewardship of the collective brand vision.
Bachelor's degree in design, multimedia or a related field required.
Master's degree preferred.
At least five years of experience in design, interactive, or a related field required.
Complete familiarity with Apple Macintosh environment required.
Deep knowledge of and fluency with the Adobe Creative Suite required.
Knowledge of interactive and mobile user experience design, CSS and HTML5 protocols and best practices required.
Outstanding attention to detail, ability to juggle multiple projects in deadline-oriented environment, Presentation and organizational skills required.
Ability to work under direction required.
Ability to work under minimal supervision required.
Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and to work successfully under pressure required.
Ability to work successfully with a wide variety of people inside and outside the University, including the Creative Director, developers, partners, alumni, faculty, and others, required.
Ability to meet new people easily and be at ease interacting professionally with them required.
Ability to present concepts effectively to the central marketing team, its partners, and the larger Chicago Booth community required.
Ability to work successfully as part of a team required, including the ability to give and receive constructive feedback and to articulate and defend a principled point of view.
Discipline and flexibility required.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously required.
Ability to convey how a program or initiative will be expressed in multiple channels required.
Prolonged use of computer and intensive keyboard use required.
Willingness and ability to travel periodically, including out-of-state, required.
