The Department of Anthropology and Sociology at Webster University invites applicants for an assistant professor position beginning August 2015. A Ph.D. in Sociology or a related field is preferred at the time of appointment although we will consider strong candidates that are ABD. The position requires the teaching of a 3/3 course load and the opportunity to contribute to a growing program.
The successful candidate will have a focus in the sociology of law, crime, or deviance and at least one of the following areas; globalization, organizations, or environmental sociology. Additionally we seek candidates that have a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education, evidence of teaching excellence, and evidence of scholarly productivity and ongoing research. Applicants should be qualified and willing to teach both introductory and advanced coursework in sociology and criminology, plus additional courses in the candidates area(s) of specialty. Additionally applicants should be comfortable teaching in a multi-disciplinary environment. This is a nine (9) month academic position.
Webster University was founded in 1915 and is a private, multi-campus and international institution. This position is for the main St. Louis campus located near to downtown St. Louis in historic Webster Groves, MO. The St. Louis campus provides an academic home for more than 3,500 undergraduate and 3,300 graduate students from across the globe.
