JOB DESCRIPTION: With the energy and excitement of its $80M Centennial Campaign, MTSU seeks a skilled Development Officer to lead a comprehensive fundraising program in the College of Basic and Applied Science (BAS) that includes such renowned programs as Aerospace and Concrete Industry Management. MTSU will soon open the new science building, a project that provides immediate gift and naming opportunities. The Development Officer will work with an existing portfolio of major prospects along with extensive opportunities for new donor discovery. The incumbent will be responsible for all advancement activities in the college with primary focus on relationship building leading to successful cultivation and solicitation of major and planned gifts of $100,000; campaign planning, leadership annual giving and donor stewardship. Manage and build a portfolio of 80 - 120 major gift prospects; coordinate an extensive schedule of 15-25 monthly personal visits with individuals, corporations and foundations; involving the dean and other faculty as appropriate. Support the overall fundraising efforts of the Development Office and the University and develop strategic fundraising goals and plans to elevate the overall fundraising in the College of Basic and Applied Science to a new level of excellence. The incumbent will perform other related tasks or special projects as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college and a minimum of five years of successful fundraising experience including major and/or planned gifts required. Must provide evidence of excellent written communication skills. Seven years of higher education fundraising experience strongly preferred with a demonstrated record of success in soliciting and securing major and/or planned gifts of $100K or greater preferred.
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with experience
