The Department of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management (HRTM) at State University of New York College at Plattsburgh invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management,a 10-month tenure-track appointment with a start date of August 2015. As part of the School of Business and Economics (AACSB accredited), the hospitality program (ACPHA accredited) is the second largest program with approximately 200 students. The program operates in a dedicated state of the art facility, providing a premier hospitality management education.

The successful candidate will be committed to excellence in teaching and service in an institution dedicated primarily to undergraduate education.  He or she will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of and sensitivity to diversity and gender issues, as SUNY Plattsburgh is committed to ensuring that its graduates are educated to succeed in an increasingly complex, multicultural, and interdependent world.

Responsibilities include: Teach undergraduate courses in potential areas of lodging and restaurant management, event planning, facilities management, and tourism. The ability to teach in multiple content areas is a plus. Participate in program development, recruitment, and student advisement. Establish a line of research and actively publish in appropriate peer-reviewed hospitality journals. Participate in service responsibilities for the Department, the School of Business and Economics, the University, and the hospitality profession.  Candidates may be asked to teach courses in distance learning format.

Required Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Hospitality/Tourism Management or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution. The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to work effectively and collegially with faculty, staff, and administrators.

Preferred Qualifications: A record of scholarly publications, management experience in the hospitality industry, and a record of web-based course development are preferred.
