The University at Buffalo (UB), the State University of New York (SUNY), a premier, research-intensive public university dedicated to academic excellence, seeks a bold, thoughtful, and visible director to lead and manage its Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
Reporting directly to and partnering closely with the vice provost for enrollment, Lee H. Melvin, the director of undergraduate admissions will lead all aspects of domestic student undergraduate recruitment and admission. The director will join UB as the university is reshaping its enrollment division to create an enrollment strategy that is forward-thinking, innovative, and dynamic, maintaining positive academic quality and moving UB to higher levels of institutional distinction. As such, this position represents a significant opportunity for the new director to help shape the vision for enrollment to achieve the institution's overall strategic goals and objectives.
The director will develop and lead an energetic outreach program which includes proactive recruitment initiatives that creatively and thoughtfully portray the university's undergraduate experience in order to shape an increasingly competitive applicant pool. Ultimately, the director is responsible for efficient and customer-centric application review, applicant selection, and yield-influencing programs which result in meeting university undergraduate freshman and transfer enrollment goals. The director will supervise a staff of approximately 50 FTE positions, including professional staff, support staff, and graduate assistants, and oversee a budget of approximately $3.2 million.
The new director will be a forward-thinking, collaborative professional who has vision and confidence as a thought leader and is willing to take calculated risks and engage the UB community, prospective students, and families in new ways. He or she will further develop a dedicated and talented staff to continue to be outcome oriented, optimistic, innovative, and analytical. Candidates need to be highly energetic, strategic leaders with a strong commitment to serve stakeholders and partner with the campus community with an "extra-mile" service and results-oriented approach.
Founded in 1846, UB is a premier, research-intensive public university and one of the select group of institutions forming the Association of American Universities.
