Columbia Universitys Graduate School of Journalism is currently seeking a Deputy Director, Information Technology, responsible for the implementation and support of information technology solutions at the Journalism School. Areas of focus include assisting with the definition of functional web requirements for academic and administrative stakeholders, managing the Schools web technology infrastructure and web operations, and the design and development of online and database-driven applications to leverage web technologies.

The Deputy Director will be responsible for all web servers and web-related infrastructure and planning; the management of operation, uptime, and continued development of J-School systems and platforms; and the supervision of the Infrastructure and Web Developer. As a point person for school-wide web and technology needs, he or she will work closely with the entire School community and will be responsible for resolving various issues that arise. He/she will also have budgetary responsibilities, as well as other duties outlined at the web address below.

A Bachelors degree or equivalent is required, as well as a minimum 4 to 6 years related experience, including experience with some of the following technologies: Windows Server, UNIX/Linux or Mac OS X Server, Active Directory, DNS, IIS, Apache, HTML, XML, SQL, ASP, Perl, Shell scripting, and Java or JavaScript.
