The University of Georgia invites applications and nominations for the position of Executive Director of Alumni Relations. The Executive Director of Alumni Relations is responsible for leading alumni programs, services and activities for the more than 283,000 University of Georgia alumni. The Executive Director of Alumni Relations will report directly to the Senior Associate Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations soon to be named.
The UGA Alumni Association proudly supports the academic excellence, best interests and traditions of Georgia's flagship university and its alumni worldwide. The Alumni Association manages programming that engages UGA alumni and current students and supports alumni programs produced by the schools and colleges across campus. Examples of signature events and functions of the UGA Alumni Association include Bulldog 100 honoring the fastest growing alumni businesses, Forty Under Forty recognizing outstanding young alumni, student engagement and philanthropy through the Student Alumni Association, and outreach through a strong network of regional and corporate chapters.
The Executive Director of Alumni Relations is responsible for developing the strategic objectives for the alumni programs, services and activities to ensure successful engagement and participation. The Executive Director of Alumni Relations will maintain close working relationships with the Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations and other Executive Directors in the division, the UGA Alumni Association Board of Directors, the University of Georgia Foundation, the Presidents Office, the UGA deans of schools and colleges, unit directors, the UGA Athletic Association, alumni committees and key volunteers in the support of a cohesive and coordinated approach to programming, services and activities. The Executive Director will lead and direct a staff of professionals and manage the budget for the UGA Alumni Association and the department of Alumni Relations. The Executive Director will provide guidance and assist with the efforts of the schools, colleges, and other units in developing and enhancing alumni programming and engagement, and promoting opportunities for financial support of the University. The Executive Director of Alumni Relations will also serve as liaison to the UGA Alumni Association Board of Directors. The UGA Alumni Association website is located at: alumni.uga.edu.
Candidates for the Executive Director of Alumni Relations must have a Bachelors degree; Masters degree is preferred. A record of progressively responsible management experience in alumni relations in a large and complex institution of higher education is preferred. Desirable qualifications for the successful candidate include: the ability to enhance already strong relationships with UGA alumni and community; an understanding of excellence in alumni relations programming; strong team building and internal management skills; the ability to work in a collaborative and collegial manner across a large and complex organization; and the ability to encourage accountability in delivering outstanding alumni relations programming.
