DESCRIPTION: The Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology at Michigan State University (http://www.phmtox.msu.edu/) seeks to fill a non-tenure faculty position at the level of assistant to associate professor for an energetic, self-directed pharmacology educator who will be responsible for directing distance education activities offered by the Department, advising students and contributing to the Departments teaching mission.
DUTIES: The successful applicant will be expected to provide leadership, creativity and administrative oversight for the Department's distance learning activities including two online Masters programs and web-based undergraduate pharmacology courses; develop, implement, maintain and teach high quality online course offerings; work with external partners (agencies, universities and companies) in student recruitment and enrollment and providing student oversight and administrative matters; communicate effectively with faculty, students and staff.
QUALIFICATIONS: A doctoral degree (PhD, PharmD, Sc.D., DV., DO and/or MD) in pharmacology or related pharmaceutical science; at least 3 years pharmacology teaching experience; experience in development of online instructional programs and courses. Desired qualifications include: demonstrated expertise in the theory and practice of online distance learning pedagogy and experience in curriculum development, instructional methods, and online instruction is preferred; knowledge and skill in curriculum development, instructional design, and online instruction; knowledge of best practices, current research, and innovations in instructional design theory and instructional technology; knowledge of the use of learning management systems for the delivery of instruction and services using the Internet, including knowledge of ADA compliance related to technology.
