Dean of Undergraduate Student Life


In support of the approximate 6,000 Columbia College and The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science undergraduate students, the Dean of Undergraduate Student Life (DUSL), who reports to the Dean of Columbia College and the Dean of The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science, is responsible for the strategic development and operational implementation of a comprehensive plan to foster a vibrant and welcoming undergraduate community.


As two of the sixteen schools comprising Columbia University, Columbia College and Columbia Engineering share an undergraduate co-curricular program, including residential life and student groups, both of which are supported by Undergraduate Student Life.


The DUSL will manage student life policies, practices, programs, and services that are clear and consistent and that promote learning, community building, and intercultural understanding. As the leader of a functional area with responsibility for residential communities, student outreach and advocacy, the DUSL will build strong relationships and partnerships with individual students and with groups such as the student government, student organizations, and special-interest communities. In addition, the DUSL will closely collaborate with other school-based and University partner offices that collectively support the undergraduate co-curricular experience.
