OPEN RANK FACULTY POSITION in
TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY
The Africana Studies and Religious Studies programs at Texas A&M University invite applications for a tenured or tenure-track position at the assistant, associate or full professor rank, to begin September 1, 2015. A Ph.D. in Religious Studies, Africana Studies or a closely related field is essential and must be complete by August 1, 2015. Applicants should have demonstrated teaching and research credentials in one or more of the following areas: Religions of Africa, Religions of the Caribbean, African Religions in North America, Indigenous African Religions and/or Religions of the African Diaspora. Multiple theoretical perspectives are welcome. Teaching and research in Womens and Gender Studies or Womanist Theology desirable. Standard 2/2 teaching load includes Introduction to Africana Studies, World Religions, and specialized courses. Service to the Interdisciplinary Programs in Religious Studies and Africana Studies and research publication expected.
Applicants at the Assistant Professor rank will have a Ph.D. and an established program of research that clearly demonstrates potential for sustained, nationally prominent scholarship. Applicants at the Associate rank will have a Ph.D. and a record of nationally prominent scholarship. Appointment at the rank of Full Professor may be possible for applicants with a Ph.D. and an exceptional record of nationally and internationally prominent research. Applicants at the rank of Associate or Full Professor must demonstrate a record meriting tenure at a research university that has a Carnegie classification of RU/VH and is a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU).
