The Department of Mass Communication at Boston Universitys College of Communication is seeking a tenure track Assistant Professor in the area of design, analytics, and data visualization.
Candidates are sought with expertise in design theory and practice who can make design relevant to research and communication practice in fields such as advertising and public relations. Candidates are sought with the ability to teach undergraduates and graduate students data visualization and to make large datasets relevant, accessible and usable by persuasive communicators. Scholars with an understanding of the relationships between data and narrative will be especially suited for this position.
The College of Communication at Boston University is a national leader in instruction and research in the communication arts and sciences. Our programs in mass communication train students for fields such as advertising, public relations and other strategic communication fields. Duties include teaching two courses per semester, in Design and in the candidates specialty area. Candidates will carry out a program of research. The ideal candidate will be able to teach and advise in the Colleges new Ph. D. program in Emerging Media Studies.
The candidate will have a Ph. D. degree in Communication, Media Studies, or a terminal degree in a design-related field. Candidates with degrees in cognate or related fields are also encouraged to apply.
