The Counselor Education Program in the Child, Family and Community Sciences Department invites applications for Assistant Professor in Counselor Education. This position is on the Orlando campus, tenure-earning, full-time, nine-month appointment with benefits. The successful candidate will be a dynamic individual with strong research, teaching, and interpersonal skills. Primary duties include teaching a variety of graduate-level counseling courses, conducting research, engaging in writing, submitting and receiving external grants to support program and research initiatives, supervising practicum and internship students, serving on doctoral dissertation committees, participating on departmental and college committees, and performing other duties as assigned.


Minimum qualifications for consideration include (a) an earned doctorate in Counselor Education from an accredited institution at the time of employment; (b) expertise in school counseling; (c) demonstrated evidence of, or potential for, research; (d) evidence of strong graduate-level teaching; and (e) active participation in professional counseling organizations. In addition to the minimum qualifications, preferred qualifications include an earned doctorate from a CACREP accredited program; manuscripts published in national refereed counseling journals; experience working as a practicing school counselor; and demonstrated evidence of, or potential for, grant writing.
