Public Policy: The Hoover Institution, Stanford University, is a public policy research center devoted to the advanced study of economics, politics, history and political economy as well as international affairs. Reporting to the President of Stanford, the Director will build on the Hoover Institution's distinguished history as a source of new ideas and knowledge, and a leader in the development of public policy, and will work with Hoover's world-class scholars to design and implement a strategic plan to enhance Hoover's role in the nation's intellectual life in the decades ahead. Qualifications include someone of national stature who is highly respected in the scholarly community and public policy arena; a successful record as a visionary leader, institution builder and resourceful administrator who can attract and motivate high quality scholars and manage Hoover's diverse operations; and demonstrated ability to work collegially and effectively with a wide range of constituencies. Ph.D. or equivalent advanced degree (e.g. Law) and leadership experience in an academic, government or public policy program or organization strongly desired.
