New Jersey Institute of Technology seeks a skilled communicator, effective organizer, and action-oriented individual to serve as a primary interface to business and government entities associated with a federal grant and the start-up of a new entity, New Jersey Innovation Institute (NJII). NJII is a New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) corporation that applies the intellectual and technological resources of the states science and technology university to challenges identified by industry partners in collaboration with government and other universities.
The Relationship Manager for Cluster Development (RMCD) will serve as user group steward for NJ MarketShift. NJ MarketShift is a cutting-edge Department of Defense-funded (DoD) program focused on broadening markets, strengthening innovation, and developing new enterprises within New Jerseys aerospace and defense (A&D) supply chain. The RMCD will serve a similar set of relationship management, program services, and customer interface functions for NJITs newly-developing organization, NJII, that complement roles performed for NJ MarketShift. These roles involve working with NJIIs other programs, including its innovation labs and enterprise, cluster, and economic development programs.
Provide planning and support to NJ MarketShift User Groups: plan, organize, communicate, convene, and deliver support to the user groups, ensuring that all nine user groups are operational and productive within the grant period. Create relevant communication tools and processes to achieve a quality high-touch environment for MarketShifts user groups. Develop and track key performance metrics for user group deliverables, both for the partners who are contracted for user group services, and for the user group activities themselves.
Interface with User Group Service Providers by ensuring that an effective conduit for communicating user group needs to user group service providers is established and maintained. Support user group activity associated with tools market research, export, and innovation design and engineering services.
Organize User Group Facilitation Training for user group facilitators and supply chain actors. Work with facilitating contracting entity for the delivery of the training.
Key skills include ability to quickly assemble an understanding of the relevant partners, services, and structures and to then create infrastructure to deliver services systematically to end users. Typically requires bachelors degree, with a masters preferred, in business, social science, engineering, or related field and at least 5 years of related experience in project management with similar complexity. Demonstrated evidence of strong customer support and communication skills is required. Experience in working with a range of vendors and customers, public and private, is preferred. This is an 18 month appointment with an additional 18-24 months expected from the same revenue source.
