Major Duties

 Under the general supervision of the Information Technology (IT) Systems Lead, and as a key member of the IT Systems team, this position will serve as CSUN's primary Exchange administrator with direct hands-on responsibility for administering and supporting all aspects of the enterprise email environment comprised of the Microsoft Exchange 2007, 2010, and Exchange Online/2013 environments (on-premise and hosted), SCOM, Lync (as well as other aspects of MS Unified Communications that may be adopted going forward), and Google Gmail/Apps for CSUN's student population.  This position will maintain all aspects of the email environment including storage and server maintenance, system monitoring, patching, account management, spam filter and rule development for antivirus/anti-spam systems for email such as Forefront Online Protection for Exchange, Forefront for Exchange, and other industry products.  This position will also work closely with other members of the Systems team to maintain Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS), Directory Synchronization, and Active Directory. Serving as part of the enterprise Systems team this position will also assist with maintenance and administration of the enterprise hypervisor environment (VMware) and Windows server infrastructure, inventory management, configuration management (SCCM), patching, upgrades, generating reports on system health and other metrics, log analysis, security monitoring, and other operational tasks. Performs other duties as assigned.



 Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university in Computer Science or job-related field. Three years of full-time, progressively field-related experience. Additional qualifying training and applied experience may be substituted for required education, on a year-for-year basis up to two years. MCM Exchange Server 2010 Certification is strongly preferred.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

 Thorough knowledge and experience with: Exchange 2007, Exchange 2010, Exchange 2013, Exchange Online (hosted), SCOM, ADFS, DirSync, Forefront Online, Exchange backups, Microsoft Exchange Online Protection, Exchange security hardening, PowerShell scripting, System Center Orchestrator to automate routine tasks (such as OS patching) and Windows Server administration.  General knowledge of Active Directory, Google Gmail/Apps, VMware, SCCM, and Lync is also preferred.  Ability and specialized skills to: effectively triage and tenaciously manage problems through to resolution, analyze data; reason logically and creatively; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; and effectively manage vendor support resources through break-fix and project planning calls and engagements.

The salary range for this classification is: $4372  - $8949
Anticipated hiring range: $4372 - $6667, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
