The University of Houston invites nominations and applications for the next Dean of the Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management.
The Dean is responsible for all aspects of academic life within the College, including budgets, teaching, service/engagement, research and personnel matters involving faculty, staff and students. In addition, the general manager of the University Hilton Hotel reports to the Dean.
The successful candidate will possess outstanding leadership skills coupled with the ability to serve as an articulate and zealous advocate for the College within the Higher Education community, locally, nationally and internationally. The Dean will promote excellence in the teaching, research, scholarship and service activities of the College. The Dean will play the central role in fundraising for the College and is responsible for developing external and internal relations across the UH community and beyond.
The Dean reports directly to the Provost, serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the College, leads in development of the programs of the College, and coordinates and integrates the work of its departments. The Dean formulates and administers policies for the College, either on his/her own initiative or as directed by appropriate authority, with due consideration for the prerogatives of the faculty with regard to educational policy.

UH awards more than 8,000 degrees annually, with more than 224,000 alumni.
Earned terminal degree in hospitality and tourism management or a closely related field;
Management experience in the hospitality and/or tourism industry;
Knowledge of major trends in the field;
Demonstrated commitment to academic excellence, research, and scholarship; and
A strong financial acumen, including developing and managing budgets effectively.
