The College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology at Oklahoma State University (OSU) seeks nominations and applications for the position of Professor/Associate Professor and Program Director in Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology (FPSET).  The successful candidate will be expected to conduct research, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, mentor students, be involved in service to the university and their profession, and be an integral part in the development of a new masters degree in Fire Safety and Explosion Protection.  With regard to research opportunities, the state of Oklahoma is a leader in petrochemical, aerospace, energy, defense, and agricultural industries.

 

Applicants with expertise in fire dynamics, fire systems, industrial safety, industrial hygiene, safety engineering, fire protection engineering fire and explosion simulation modeling, industrial fire protection, structural fire analysis, critical infrastructure protection, process safety, and/or reactive materials chemistry are encouraged to apply.  An MS degree in engineering, science or a closely related field is required.  A Ph.D and related technical professional experience is desirable.  Individuals with training and skills that complement and augment existing faculty expertise and have interest in collaborative work with other departments are particularly attractive.  In addition, there are collaborative opportunities to develop and offer innovative continuing education courses as part of OSUs land grant mission.

 

The FPSET program currently has six faculty members with 266 enrolled B.S. students.  It is one of four ABET accredited programs within the Engineering Technology at Oklahoma State University, which also includes Construction Management Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology.
