Chief Human Resources Officer

The University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder) is looking for a dynamic and accomplished human resources leader to serve in the newly elevated role of Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), reporting to the Senior Vice Chancellor for finance and administration.

As a member of the Chancellor's Executive Committee, the CHRO is responsible for developing and driving the campus human resources strategy, which was recently defined as part of a thorough business performance excellence process. Additionally, the CHRO is responsible for managing the Department of Human Resources (HR) in a manner that engages campus constituents to ensure HR supports both their shared and unique objectives. The CHRO leads a team of approximately 55 full and part time staff.

The University of Colorado's Boulder campus employs over 15,000 officers, faculty, staff and student employees. They are supported in their work by an HR organization that includes the following centers of expertise: talent acquisition, job evaluation and compensation, organizational and employee development, faculty and staff assistance, employee relations and operations. The CHRO will lead the campus toward an HR business partner model, where appropriate, to enhance service.

Situated on one of the most spectacular college campuses in the country, CU Boulder is a nationally renowned, comprehensive research university and residential campus with 30,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Offering more than 2500 courses in 150 areas of study through its nine colleges and schools, CU Boulder is one of the 34 public institutions belonging to the Association of American Universities (AAU) -and the only member in the Rocky Mountain region.

The successful candidate will possess broad HR knowledge and expertise in strategic consultative services to other organization leadership, administration of related laws, policies and procedures, coupled with technical experience in key areas of HR, affirmative action, ADA/ EEO compliance, wellness and employee assistance programs. The CHRO will have demonstrated creativity and responsiveness to the needs of a large employer, preferably an academic community, all in an environment supportive of diversity and inclusion.

Priority will be given to candidates with a graduate degree from an accredited institution in human resources/organization management, business or related field plus 15 years of progressively more complex professional human resources experience, including at least seven years at a senior management level.
