Music: The University of South Carolina School of Music is accepting applications for Associate Director of Bands, to begin July 1, 2015. Tenure-track; rank negotiable; 11-month. Responsibilities: Assist the Director of Bands in a team environment with the administration, recruitment and continued development of a comprehensive University Band program. Direct the USC Marching Band; conduct the USC Symphonic Winds; direct the men's basketball band and coordinate pep bands for women's basketball and volleyball; engage in scholarly and/or creative research activities; participate in faculty service activities and committee work; oversees the organization and operation of the USC Summer Band Clinics. Additional teaching responsibilities as determined by qualifications, preference, and institutional needs. Qualifications: An earned doctorate (or ABD) is preferred but candidates with master's degrees and significant teaching and performance experience may be considered. Candidates should have an established record of teaching and performance excellence in collegiate band programs; significant experience and proven excellence as a band conductor as well as commitment to music education. Secondary public school experience is highly desirable, college teaching experience is required.
