Vice President for Academic Affairs

St. Thomas Aquinas College, a dynamic higher education institution, located in the lower Hudson Valley in Sparkill, NY (16 miles from New York City), invites nominations and applications for its next Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA). The VPAA is expected to assume the position in July, 2015. The VPAA will serve as the chief academic officer, report to the College's President, and provide leadership and oversight for all academic programs, working closely with the faculty to develop and implement a unified academic vision. In addition, the VPAA will be responsible for academic budgets, regional and professional accreditation, and for implementing outcomes assessment for all academic programs, including the core curriculum. In addition, the VPAA will be responsible for faculty recruitment, retention, evaluation, promotion and tenure.

St. Thomas Aquinas College offers a caring and challenging environment for learning. The VPAA oversees the work of its three Schools, the School of Arts & Sciences, the School of Business, and the School of Education and eight academic units at the College. There are 65 full-time faculty on the main campus, whom have PhDs or appropriate terminal degrees in their fields, and the student-to-faculty ratio is 18:1. The College also has a satellite program at the West Point Military Academy at which it offers Associate degrees for military personnel and their dependents. The VPAA will join St. Thomas Aquinas College at a time of growth and must have a record of being able to maximize change, support new instructional approaches, open new enrollment markets, and further a dynamic, academic future.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker who embraces the College mission, and will possess an earned doctorate, a distinguished record of excellence in teaching and scholarship, and a record of at least five years of successful and responsible academic leadership experience. In addition, the successful candidate will possess outstanding leadership skills, including the ability to listen, communicate, and collaborate effectively with the College's stakeholders, a demonstrated capacity for creative and innovative leadership in curricular development, familiarity with expectations related to assessment and accreditation, and experience managing resources wisely. The successful candidate should also be able to demonstrate strong facility with technology and on-line teaching/learning.
