The School of Engineering and Applied Sciences(SEAS) serves as the connecter and integrator of Harvard’s teaching and research efforts in engineering, applied sciences, and technology. Oversees the academic experience of all SEAS graduate students (masters and PhD), from matriculation at Harvard through graduation. Specifically, oversees academic administration/operations for all graduate milestones including initial orientation, plan of study formation and course selection, advisor selection, qualifying exam scheduling and execution, teaching requirement fulfillment, dissertation submission, final oral defense, and graduation.

Based on qualifications and SEAS teaching needs, the position may include an unpaid lectureship in the individual’s area of expertise in engineering or applied sciences.


Qualifications: Doctoral degree is required. In addition, a minimum of three years of experience with academic advising, course/program development, and committee and project management is required, or commensurate applicable experience in industry.

Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in a SEAS-related field such as applied math, computer science, electrical engineering, bioengineering, mechanical engineering, environmental engineering, or applied physics is strongly preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills as well as a strong commitment to education and mentoring of students are also required. Must be detail-oriented, work well under deadlines, and be very responsive to needs of stakeholders, including students and faculty. Must demonstrate ability to forge strong working relationships with all constituents, particularly faculty.
